How the checker works

Upload a photo (JPEG, PNG, HEIC; up to 10 MB) — the browser analyses its dimensions, file size, background colour, presence of a face and its framing. In 2 seconds you get a PASS / FAIL status with the precise list of violated rules.

The tool then offers an automatic crop to the required dimensions (200×200 px) and re-encodes the image to fit the file-size band (5-100 KB). Download the fixed version, ready to upload on the visa.visitsaudi.com portal. No photo is sent to OmraDesk — processing is 100% in-browser.

Official Saudi eVisa specifications

Source: official portal visa.visitsaudi.com/Home/PhotoSpecifications. Ruleset version used by the tool: 2026-08.

  • Format: JPEG. Dimensions: exactly 200×200 pixels.
  • File size: 5 KB minimum, 100 KB maximum.
  • Background: plain white, no pattern, no gradient, no shadows.
  • Face: centred, 70-80% of the image height.
  • Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, facing camera.
  • Even lighting, no back-light, no strong shadows.
  • No sunglasses; no headwear except religious (hijab allowed).

Important: this checker targets ONLY the KSA tourist eVisa (visa.visitsaudi.com). For Nusuk Umrah visas (TN/DZ/MA agencies), the photo is auto-extracted from the passport scan inside the platform — no separate photo to validate.

Worked example: common rejection cases

Case 1 — Raw iPhone photo (4032×3024 px, 2 MB, desk background): rejected for dimensions AND size AND non-white background. Automatic cropping fixes all three in one click.

Case 2 — Selfie in front of a window (back-lit, dark face): rejected for lighting. Not auto-fixable — retake the photo facing a light source.

Case 3 — Scanned passport photo (300×400 px, blue background): rejected for ratio (portrait) and background. Cropping makes it 200×200 but the blue stays — retaking is simpler than manual compositing.

Limitations

The tool detects automatically measurable criteria (dimensions, size, background, face presence). It CANNOT rule with certainty on expression (subtle smile vs closed mouth), pronounced shadows or non-religious headwear — human review is still wise if the photo is borderline.

The checker is not an official submission. A PASS here can still be rejected by the Saudi visa officer for subjective issues (veil covering the chin, slightly grey background). If in doubt, retake in a local photo studio.

Rules may evolve on visitsaudi.com. The tool exposes the current ruleset version (2026-08) — a flag will appear if a change is detected.

FAQ

Is my photo sent to OmraDesk?

No. All processing (analysis, cropping, re-encoding) happens in your browser via the Canvas API — no photo is uploaded to our servers. GDPR-compliant by design.

Why is my iPhone photo rejected for no obvious reason?

Recent iPhones produce HEIC by default at huge dimensions (4032×3024) and several MB. The visa portal rejects anything above 100 KB — automatic cropping fixes it.

Is a hijab / veil accepted?

Yes, as long as it doesn't cover facial features (forehead, cheeks, chin must remain visible). Other headwear (caps, hats) is not accepted.

Can I use this tool for a Nusuk Umrah visa?

Not needed: Nusuk visas (TN/DZ/MA agencies) extract the photo directly from the passport scan. This checker targets only the Saudi tourist eVisa via visa.visitsaudi.com (FR/EU clients not Nusuk-eligible).

How many people can a photo contain?

One face per photo, all ages. Each family member submits their own photo in their own eVisa file.
