Who must register on Nusuk Hajj?

Nusuk Hajj is the Saudi Ministry of Hajj's official platform for pilgrims living in a country without a national Hajj mission: most of Europe, the Americas, Oceania and a few countries in Asia and Africa — more than a hundred countries according to Nusuk Hajj. For these pilgrims, Hajj registration must go through the platform.

What counts is your country of residence, not your nationality: the portal asks for it when you create the account, and it cannot be changed later. A Moroccan, Algerian or Pakistani national living in the UK, France or Canada therefore registers on Nusuk Hajj from that country, with their residence permit.

Countries served include:

French-speaking Europe

France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Monaco

French overseas territories

Réunion, Mayotte, Martinique, French Guiana, French Polynesia

Rest of Europe

Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Greece, Czech Republic, Romania

The Americas

Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia

Oceania, Asia and Africa

Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Seychelles, Botswana

Residents of countries with a national Hajj mission (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt, Turkey…) register with their national body, not on Nusuk Hajj. If your country is not served, the platform offers a “Global Packages” form to register your interest: it is not a booking.

Excerpt checked on 17 September 2026 (Nusuk Hajj then listed about 126 countries), not exhaustive: the list changes from one season to the next. Check your country on the official list before registering.

How to register on Nusuk Hajj: the steps

The hajj.nusuk.sa portal follows a ten-step journey. The first two can be prepared right now:

  1. Create your account: country of residence, email address, code received by email, then a password. Only the special characters @ # $ % * & are accepted, and a new code is emailed at every login.
  2. Upload your passport and photo: the photo at 200 × 200 px on a white background, the passport as a JPG or PNG, each up to 1 MB. Prepare them with the tool at the top of this page. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after arrival.
  3. Check the details read from the passport and complete the application form: contact details, employment, arrival, declarations and health. Dates are written as 04-Jun-2002; the Arabic name fields are optional.
  4. Wait for the Saudi administration to review your file. Being sent back for corrections is common and is not a rejection.
  5. Choose the service category.
  6. Activate and top up your eWallet with the package amount before sales open.
  7. Choose the service provider who will accompany you.
  8. Compare and select a package.
  9. Book and pay from the eWallet on opening day: places go fast and an insufficient balance loses the place.
  10. Follow your trip once the booking is confirmed.

The calendar is set every season by the platform: account creation and file reviews first, then package sales open, a few months before Hajj. Only the dates published on Nusuk Hajj are authoritative.

What photo size does Nusuk Hajj require?

The Nusuk Hajj portal asks for a recent personal photo, as a JPG or PNG, 200 × 200 pixels, 1 MB at most, on a white background.

  • Dimensions: 200 × 200 px, square
  • File format: JPG or PNG
  • Size: 1 MB maximum
  • Background: plain white, without strong shadows
  • Face straight on, sharp and well lit, in proper attire

These requirements were checked on the portal on 17 September 2026. They may change from one season to the next: the tool applies the current values automatically.

How to resize your Nusuk Hajj photo

Four steps, nothing to install:

  1. Choose a photo or take one with your phone.
  2. Fit your whole head inside the oval: eyes on the line, chin on the bottom line.
  3. Turn on “Make the background white” if your background is plain but not quite white.
  4. Click “Prepare my photo”, check the preview, then download the JPG file.

The crop is always square and the photo comes out at exactly 200 × 200 px. Compression is automatic: at that size the file usually weighs a few dozen KB, well under the 1 MB limit.

How to prepare your passport for Nusuk Hajj

Nusuk Hajj expects the passport data page — the one with your photo — as a JPG or PNG, within 800 × 400 pixels and 1 MB.

  • The whole page is visible, with no edge cut off
  • The MRZ is readable: the two lines of characters at the bottom of the page
  • No glare or blur: take the photo in daylight, without flash
  • The passport lies flat and is photographed straight on

The tool finds the edges of the passport and corrects the perspective of a photo taken at an angle. You can always move the four corners by hand. The image is then scaled down without distortion to fit within 800 × 400 px.

Convert a PDF or PNG to the Nusuk format

A scanned passport often comes as a PDF. Drop the file into the Passport card: each page shows as a thumbnail, you pick the passport page and it is converted to JPG on your device. PNG and WEBP images are converted the same way.

On iPhone, a HEIC photo picked from the photo library is usually converted to JPG by the phone when you select it.

Why does Nusuk reject a photo or passport?

Most rejections come down to a few simple causes:

  • File too heavy or too large, such as a raw phone photo of several MB
  • Format not accepted: HEIC, or a PDF instead of an image
  • Blurry or dark photo, or shadows on the face
  • Busy or coloured background instead of white
  • Passport cut off, unreadable MRZ or glare on the page

The tool fixes the format, dimensions and file size. It cannot make a blurry photo sharp: in that case, take the photo again. The Nusuk portal also runs its own checks; a file prepared here meets the stated dimensions and limits, with no guarantee of acceptance.

Hajj and Umrah agencies: prepare your pilgrims' Nusuk documents

For agencies that support pilgrims on Nusuk Hajj, the upload step often stalls on documents: photos and passports sent over WhatsApp or email, too heavy, badly framed or as PDFs. The tool gets them into shape in seconds, with no account and no usage limit.

You can also share this page's link with your pilgrims so they prepare their own files. Since nothing is sent or stored, no client passport goes through a third-party service.

To then track your pilgrims' files, documents and payments in one place, OmraDesk brings everything together in one piece of software.

Your documents stay on your device

Processing happens directly in your browser: the photo and passport are not sent to any server, neither OmraDesk's nor a third party's. Nothing is kept: closing the page clears everything.

To read a PDF and detect the passport, the browser downloads the programs that do the processing from omradesk.com. Those are programs coming down to your device, not your files going up — you can check it in the Network tab of your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Who must register on Nusuk Hajj?

Pilgrims who live in a country served by the platform: the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Germany and most countries in Europe and the Americas — more than a hundred countries according to Nusuk Hajj. Residents of countries with a national Hajj mission, such as Morocco, Egypt or Turkey, go through their national body.

How do I register on Nusuk Hajj?

On hajj.nusuk.sa: create your account with your country of residence and email, upload your passport and photo in the right format, complete the application form, wait for the review, top up your eWallet, then choose and book a package on the day sales open. The tool on this page prepares the photo and passport.

When does Nusuk Hajj registration open?

Every season the platform first opens account creation and file reviews, then package sales, a few months before Hajj. The exact dates are published on hajj.nusuk.sa and only those are authoritative. Prepare your photo and passport ahead of time: they are the first documents of your file.

I live in the UK or France but hold another nationality: do I use Nusuk Hajj?

Yes, if a served country is your country of residence: Nusuk Hajj goes by where you live, chosen when you create the account and not editable later. Keep your residence permit at hand, as it may be requested in addition to your passport.

My country is not served by Nusuk Hajj: what can I do?

First check the official list of serviced countries, which changes every season. If your country has a national Hajj mission, register with it. Otherwise, the platform offers a “Global Packages” form to register your interest; it is not a booking.

What size should the Nusuk Hajj photo be?

200 × 200 pixels, JPG or PNG, 1 MB maximum, on a white background. The tool crops the photo to a square, scales it to exactly that size and compresses it automatically.

How do I resize a photo to 200×200 for Nusuk?

Add the photo to the tool, place your head inside the oval using the zoom, then click “Prepare my photo”. The downloaded file is exactly 200 × 200 px, as a JPG, with no software to install.

How do I get a white background on a Nusuk photo?

Turn on “Make the background white”. The tool reads the wall colour along the edges of the photo and replaces it with white, without AI. It works well on a plain background (light wall, sheet); if the background is busy, the tool says so instead of producing a bad cut-out. Retake the photo against a plain wall.

What passport format does Nusuk Hajj accept?

The data page as a JPG or PNG, 800 × 400 pixels at most and 1 MB at most. The whole page and the MRZ must stay readable. The tool straightens the page, scales it down without distortion and compresses it.

How do I convert a PDF to JPG for Nusuk Hajj?

Drop the PDF into the Passport card and pick the page with the passport: it is converted to a JPG in the right format, on your device. A password-protected PDF cannot be read; export the page as an image instead.

Why does Nusuk reject my photo?

The most common causes: file too heavy, dimensions other than 200 × 200 px, HEIC format, background that is not white, blurry or poorly lit photo. The first four can usually be fixed with the tool; a blurry or dark photo has to be retaken.

Can an agency use the tool for its pilgrims' documents?

Yes, free and without limits: process each photo and passport, or share the page link with your pilgrims. Nothing is sent or stored, and no client document goes through a server.

Is my passport sent to or stored by OmraDesk?

No. The passport is processed in your browser and is not sent to any server. OmraDesk never sees it and does not store it; it is cleared from your device's memory when you close the page.

Does the tool use artificial intelligence?

No. Cropping, the white background and passport edge detection rely on classic image processing — colour analysis, edge detection, perspective correction — run locally in your browser.

Can I use the tool on an iPhone?

Yes, on iPhone and Android alike, in Safari or Chrome. You can pick an image from the photo library or take the photo straight from the tool, then download the prepared file to your phone.
